The Taco Stand Is Headed to Westlake Village

A cult-favorite San Diego taqueria is bringing Baja flavor to the Conejo Valley.

Good news for anyone who's ever driven two and a half hours south just for a proper taco. The Taco Stand, the San Diego taqueria with a devoted following up and down the coast, has added Westlake Village to its list of upcoming locations.

The brand hasn't announced an address or an opening date yet. Still, seeing "Westlake Village, California" on the company's coming-soon lineup is enough to get our attention. We're already guessing where it'll land.

From Tijuana Street Corners to a National Following

The Taco Stand opened in San Diego in 2013. The founders drew on the street taco stands of Tijuana and years of eating their way through the Baja Peninsula. The idea was simple: bring the flavor and energy of a real Baja taco stand north of the border without losing what makes it special.

That means salsas, guacamole, and tortillas made from scratch every day. The menu covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and drinks. Fans rave about the shrimp and battered fish tacos in particular, a natural fit for our stretch of coast.

A Brand on a Roll

Westlake Village joins a fast-growing map. The Taco Stand now runs locations across San Diego County, including La Jolla, Encinitas, North Park, Convoy Street, Oceanside, and even the San Diego airport and Snapdragon Stadium. It also has spots in Orange County, Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa, and Riverside. Outside California, it has expanded to Las Vegas, Dallas, and several South Florida neighborhoods.

Other upcoming locations include Mission Valley, Irvine, Henderson, and Beverly Glen in Los Angeles. That makes Westlake Village one of the brand's first moves into the greater L.A. area, and the only one so far on our side of the hill.

Why It Matters Here

For years, the 101 corridor has had plenty of good Mexican food. What it hasn't had is a true Baja-style taqueria with this kind of reputation. For locals in Westlake, Agoura Hills, Calabasas, and Thousand Oaks, this could become the go-to after soccer practice, the easy weeknight dinner, or the post-hike reward after Paradise Falls.

What We Don't Know Yet

We don't have an address, an opening timeline, or confirmation of whether this location will serve the full menu with drinks. As soon as The Taco Stand shares details, you'll hear it from us first.
