Durango at Topanga Village? New Plans Point to Casa Luna in Woodland Hills

A new restaurant is in the works at Topanga Village, but the name attached to the project has changed in the reporting. If you saw the summer announcement that Durango was coming to Woodland Hills, there is an important update before you add it to your dinner plans: a later report points to Casa Luna taking the space instead.
Both names are connected to Boulevard Hospitality Group. The address remains the central detail for locals watching the project: 6316 Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Suite 1110, the former XOC Tequila Grill space. What is less settled is the final experience diners will find there, and exactly when the doors will open.
From a Durango announcement to a Casa Luna update
In its July 21 report, What Now Los Angeles identified Durango as the proposed restaurant, citing a recent alcohol-license filing. Owner Freddy Braidi told the outlet that the team was aiming for an early 2027 opening. That announcement described the project as a second location for the brand, following Durango Cocina & Rooftop in Rancho Cucamonga.
Then came the update. As reported by What Now Los Angeles on August 4, Casa Luna signage had been spotted near Alfred Coffee at Topanga Village. The outlet said Casa Luna appeared to be taking the space previously expected to house Durango. It described the new concept as a Mexican restaurant, while noting that further menu and design details were not available.
Casa Luna's official website now asks visitors to stay tuned for news about its Inglewood and Woodland Hills locations, providing a direct confirmation that Woodland Hills is in its plans. It does not list an opening date or menu. For readers, the distinction matters. This is a developing restaurant project, not a confirmed Durango opening with a finished menu and a reservation calendar. The later Casa Luna reporting is the better guide to the name currently associated with the Woodland Hills plans.
What is Durango, and what should diners expect here?
The existing Durango Cocina & Rooftop is inside the Sanctity Hotel in Rancho Cucamonga. Its own website describes a restaurant rooted in the food traditions of Durango, Mexico, with cooking methods that include stone, fire and banana leaves. It also has a rooftop setting overlooking Mount San Antonio.
That background helps explain the original announcement, but it does not establish what Casa Luna will serve. A shared hospitality group does not mean the same dishes, prices or atmosphere will follow to Woodland Hills. Diners should not assume that Durango's rooftop format, steak offerings or cocktail program are part of the new restaurant.
For now, Mexican cuisine is the broad expectation in the newer coverage. A full Casa Luna menu, interior plans and confirmed operating hours have not been established by the sources reviewed for this article. Those are the details that will tell us whether the space is best suited to a casual family meal, a longer evening out or something else entirely.
Where the project fits into Topanga Village
Topanga Village describes itself as a gathering place for shopping, dining, entertainment and leisure in the San Fernando Valley. For Woodland Hills residents, the proposed restaurant would add another reason to make an evening of a visit rather than stop only for an errand.
The former XOC space is the location to watch. When an opening announcement arrives, confirming the suite and restaurant name will be more useful than relying on an old headline. The Village's own website is also a practical starting point for checking its current dining options while the new project develops.
Is early 2027 still the opening date?
Early 2027 was a target given to What Now during the earlier Durango discussion, not a guaranteed opening day. The August Casa Luna report referred back to that target but did not include a newly confirmed timeline from the operator. Food Journal Magazine's later coverage also treated Casa Luna as an early-stage project without a released menu or opening date.
The takeaway: keep Casa Luna on your restaurant watch list, but wait for a direct opening announcement before making plans around it. The restaurant name, menu, reservations and timing all deserve a fresh check as the project moves forward.
